Biography

I was born in Warsaw in 1970. My first works were created when I was 17. They were small pastel drawings. I was inspired mostly by music:dark wave,gothic. I transferred to paper the visions, that appeared when I listened to music. My friends who saw the works, were persuading me to start painting. They gave me some paints and my first oil paintings were created when I was 20.
In 1991 I became a student at Warsaw University of Technology, Architecture Department. Then also my first exhibition of Walls took place at "N Gallery" and sold my first pictures.
I have had several individual exhibitions since then. My works may be found in private collections all over the world. I am making Angels for commissions.

Statements

My Angels look like cemetery statues, it is a deliberate effect. In the Angels series I search for the relations among the spirituality in its broad sense, emotions and eroticism. These paintings concern the manifestations of the so called female element in art and religion. The statues of angels, placed somewhere between heaven and earth in the realm of thought and imagination, are a metaphor of the everlasting love, which manifests itself in death. They are the symbols of the human condition, behaviour, spirituality. Their poses and faces, as well as the colours, comment on the reality that surrounds us and are the reflection of reality as a source of my inspiration. By what they leave unspoken, they touch the secrets of the construction of the universe, human psyche, philosophy.
The processes of painting and designing my pictures are accompanied by music. Always.

The best source of inspiration, is the observed reality and life.
Old photos, cemetery statues, devotional articles, tv, fashion, literature, music, philosophy, personality of persons met, and even a fold in a blouse... :)
