Biography

I am a self taught artist, mostly. My father was a little known artist himself who, unknowingly inspired me to pick up the habit in the first place. I have taken several small art classes throughout the school years, and even one at Tarrant County College in 2002. I have been commissioned for several paintings throughout the last decade and continue to work on new requests as they come. Recently, I was involved in a group show at the Kettle Art Gallery in Deep Ellum (Dallas, Texas). . .the theme was 'the Seven Deadly Sins' and I was excited to see that my piece was sold on opening night! I'm currently available for shows if anyone is interested, please contact me via email:

Statements

but, There are many reasons why people paint. I think my reason is to show the world the way I percieve it. Some people may say I am intensely opinionated. . .aren't we all? And if we were all to keep those strong opinions to ourselves, would we have any of the wonderful works of art, music, and literature that say exactly what it was that we felt. . .could not put into words, ourselves?

As a highly creative person, I am always up to the challenge of depicting concepts and ideas with imagery and colors that hopefully burn into the mind's eye. My pieces are sometimes extremely color saturated (often with contrasting colors) when expressing something I feel very passionately about. . .and sometimes completely void of color all together, if the subject is light. Usually the observer will find an underlying theme to each piece that provides a glimpse (or blatant view) of my own perceptions of the world around me. I want the image itself to grab you first. . .and as you look at it, the deeper meaning of it sinks in until you understand what inspirations drive each piece.

Styles

I consider myself a surrealist, though I probably don't fall into the textbook definition of the word. Honestly, I don't like to classify my work under any specific genre. . .I dabble in lots of different styles and mediums. Let's just say, I like anyth

Inspirations

I am inspired a lot by my dreams, as well as magazine ads, many different genres of music. . .especially indie/experimental rock, the clouds and the way light plays with color in the sky, anything that flies, things going on around me (because there's always something happening), old movies, some indie movies, trees, anything nature is inspirational, listening to my husband play his guitar, books I've read, and so much more.
