Torn Wing Dragonfly

This dragonfly is the second in a series of winged insects I am currently working on. The series will be pure bleach painting with no other pen or ink additions to the works.

I have named my newly found species of Odonada (dragonfly or damselfly) the Torn Wing Dragonfly.

His wings reminded me of the shredded sail of a ship we saw several years ago coming into Elliot Bay. The centuries old tall ship had encountered a severe storm in the Pacific and had been unable to retract the sails. They were lucky to have completed the voyage.

The short lifespan of this delicate species is also determined by the time their wings will hold up to the constant beating of the wind.
