Siren

You hear her voice, late at night, mingled with the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. The song reminds of something you heard long ago - something familiar from your childhood - like the first song you ever loved. But brutally beautiful. So you step out on the beach and you look at the ghosts of waves haunting the shore. Beyond the crests, the ocean is dark, a rolling shadow beneath a stormy sky. Lightning flickers in the background. In its light, you think you see something out in the water.

The song works its way through layers of your mind. Past the conscious, through the Id, dripping down through the fragile weave of ego. Then, in the dark soil of your subconscious. That's when you are lost. That's when you walk into the sea. That's when you feel her cold hands on you. That's when you take your last breath.

In this scene, the Siren floats in her cave, the skull of her favorite lover clasp in her hand.

The model is my friend actress/playboy model Claudia Christian - this is a commission and part of a n upcoming series of 4 paintings, each reflecting one of the four elements of water, fire, earth and air. Siren is the water painting.
