Sailor's Ditty Box and Tatting Shuttle

Dave's inspiration for this piece was an old sailor's ditty box he saw in an antique sewing notions book. He has covered a small wooden box with nautical scenes and the interior has been decoupaged with vintage inspired drawings. The centerpiece on the lid is scrimshaw on ancient mammoth ivory. The accompanying tatting shuttle, also created by Dave, was carved from walnut and features scrimshaw on the ancient mammoth ivory insert.
