At 14 years old, I was a student at the California State Summer School for the Arts where I studied acting, tai chi, voice and movement, Shakespeare with Cal Pritner. After High School I moved to Sacramento and directed a colorful lesbian version of Cinderella with rubber wigs, a balloon drop finale and cha-cha music. I worked with Sacramento Shakespeare Festival, City Theatre, Lookout! Productions, The Lambda Players and acted in an experimental actor-created piece entitled: ENTER LADY MACBETH. In 2005 I won a Best Actor Elly Award (Sacramento Theatre Award) for my role in EQUUS. In 2006 I attended The Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre in Blue Lake, California where I studied under Ronlin Foreman for 1 year. This is where my enthusiasm for the Clown came. After graduation I formed a partnership with a friend Jamie Van Camp and we created an original peice called IT Speaks which we performed in parks and in parking lots and at friend's houses for the Summer of 2006. In the Fall of 2006 I worked as an Intern for 3 months at Double Edge Theatre in Ashfield, Massachusetts. In February I toured India as a Clown and Theatre Arts teacher, sponsored by the US Embassy and Wise Fool New Mexico. Currently I am working on a 2-Man show, again with Jamie Van Camp, in which two actors play 15 characters, entitled HELLO, PLACERVILLE. This is the first production in which me and my creative partner address our community directly. We are hoping this will be one of many projects which will generate an open dialogue within our hometown. This Septemeber I will be studing Clown under Master Teacher Giovanni Fusetti for 3 1/2 weeks in Boulder, Colorado. When I return I will be facilitating a discussion and workshop entitled GENDER AS PERFORMANCE in which the boundaries between identity and character are examined. I also hope to continue to teach Clown and Theatre Arts to children, especially the disadvantaged.
